BC.GAME has officially launched its sports betting and online casino services in Ghana following the receipt of regulatory approval from the Gaming Commission of Ghana. Announced on Wednesday, this expansion into Ghana marks BC.GAME's third regulated market, joining Mexico and Nigeria, the latter of which it entered earlier this year.
Now operational at bcgame.com.gh, BC.GAME's entry into the Ghanaian market is seen as a significant milestone in the company's regulated expansion strategy. Adrian Chen, the senior legal counsel for BC.GAME, emphasized the importance of this launch, noting that Ghana offers a well-established regulatory framework which is vital for the company's growth.
"Ghana has a well-established regulatory framework, and entering the market in accordance with local licensing requirements represents an important step in BC.GAME’s regulated growth strategy," Chen stated.
BC.GAME aims to operate transparently and responsibly, providing local users with clear information while ensuring compliance with Ghanaian regulations. Chen expressed enthusiasm about establishing a sustainable and long-term presence in the market.
Ghana is seen as an appealing market due to its connected population and its vibrant culture surrounding football and digital entertainment. BC.GAME has tailored its online platform to better serve the Ghanaian audience. According to H2 Gambling Capital, Ghana’s online gaming gross win is projected to reach $903.5 million in 2025, reflecting a significant 24% increase from $729.8 million in the previous year.
Historically, the African gambling sector has been dominated by South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya, often referred to as the 'Big Three.' However, Ghana is quickly emerging as a key player in this landscape. Peter Kesitilwe, CEO of the African iGaming Alliance, remarked on Ghana’s favorable reputation, indicating it as one of West Africa’s most stable and commercially attractive markets. Kesitilwe pointed out that Ghana’s commitment to regulatory maturity and its political stability are central to its appeal for investors in the gaming industry.
BC.GAME’s entrance into Ghana follows the February launch of Kaizen Gaming’s Betano brand in the same market. However, BC.GAME's journey has not been without challenges. The company withdrew its license in Curaçao last December, citing a hostile operating environment, which came after a court ruling in November that declared the company bankrupt for failing to meet its financial obligations to players.
Additionally, BC.GAME lost its white label license in the UK, raising concerns over its sponsorship deal with English football club Leicester City. In response to the bankruptcy claims, BC.GAME stated it faced no liquidity or financial stability issues and is focused on global growth as it expands into new regulated markets.
