BC.GAME Launches Sports Betting and Casino in Ghana

BC.GAME has officially launched its sports betting and online casino platform in Ghana following the receipt of regulatory approval. This announcement was made on Wednesday, marking BC.GAME's entrance into yet another regulated market, adding to its existing operations in Mexico and Nigeria, where it entered earlier in 2023.

The platform is now accessible at bcgame.com.gh, following the licensing granted by the Gaming Commission of Ghana, the nation's gambling regulatory body. Adrian Chen, senior legal counsel at BC.GAME, described this launch as a significant milestone in the company’s strategic expansion into regulated markets.

“Ghana has a well-established regulatory framework, and entering the market in accordance with local licensing requirements represents an important step in BC.GAME’s regulated growth strategy,” Chen stated.

He emphasized the company’s commitment to operating transparently and responsibly, ensuring that users receive clear information while aligning with Ghanaian regulations. BC.GAME aims to establish a sustainable and long-term presence in the Ghanaian market.

BC.GAME expressed enthusiasm for the Ghanaian market, highlighting its “well-established regulatory structure” for gaming. The operator is also attracted by Ghana’s well-connected population and its vibrant football and digital entertainment culture.

To cater to local users, BC.GAME has tailored its platform for the Ghanaian market. According to H2 Gambling Capital data, Ghana's online gross win is projected to reach $903.5 million by 2025, reflecting a 24% increase from $729.8 million in the previous year.

While the gambling sector in Africa has typically been dominated by South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya, Ghana is emerging as a significant contender. African iGaming Alliance CEO Peter Kesitilwe noted Ghana's robust regulatory foundation and political stability, contributing to its reputation as a commercially appealing market in West Africa. “Ghana has developed a reputation as one of West Africa’s most stable and maybe commercially attractive markets,” Kesitilwe remarked, indicating increasing interest from operators in the region.

BC.GAME’s entry into the Ghanaian market follows Kaizen Gaming's launch of the Betano brand in February.

However, BC.GAME has faced challenges, such as withdrawing its license in Curaçao last December due to an “increasingly hostile” environment and a court ruling in November that declared the company bankrupt for failing to pay owed funds to players.

Additionally, BC.GAME lost its white label license in the UK, raising concerns regarding its sponsorship deal with Leicester City FC. In response to the bankruptcy claims, BC.GAME maintained that it has not experienced liquidity or financial stability issues and continues to expand globally into new regulated markets.
