Casino Guru Academy Offers Free Self-Exclusion Course in Partnership with BetBlocker

Casino Guru Academy has introduced a new course titled Advanced Insights: Self-Exclusion Best Practice, created with input from BetBlocker International. This course aims to provide iGaming operators with practical strategies to manage self-exclusion more efficiently and safeguard vulnerable players.

Self-exclusion serves as a vital element of responsible gambling in many regulated markets, but its implementation can differ across countries, regions, and operators. These discrepancies can lead to gaps in player protection and complicate the management processes for operators.

To address these issues, Casino Guru Academy designed this course to improve self-exclusion systems. It features a step-by-step implementation guide over 30 days, allowing operators to check, enhance, or establish these systems.

The course is based on the Recommended Code of Practice for online self-exclusion, which was published in 2025 and was the product of collaboration between Dr. Margaret Carran, Casino Guru, and a group of ten professionals in the iGaming sector.

Šimon Vincze, the Head of Safer and Sustainable Gaming at Casino Guru, expressed the intent behind the course: "We wanted to give operators guidance they can actually use. To be clear, we don’t aim to replace local regulation or create a rigid global rulebook. We want to disseminate findings on best practices for self-exclusion and how operators can adapt them to their markets, teams, and players."

The course emphasizes a multifaceted approach to player protection, illustrating that self-exclusion is more effective when complemented by other resources such as blocking software, helplines, treatment programs, and additional safer gambling tools.

A portion of the course was developed in collaboration with BetBlocker International, a free tool that blocks gambling access, detailing how such software supports self-exclusion efforts and helps prevent at-risk individuals from gambling.

Pedro Romero, CEO of BetBlocker International, noted the importance of this collaboration: "This course will help operators committed to player protection understand how to provide additional safeguards when a player decides to self-exclude. Self-exclusion should be supported by clear signposting to support services and practical blocking tools, which can play an important role in helping people maintain their decision across operators, whether they want to minimize harm or stop completely. BetBlocker International exists to make those protections free, anonymous, and accessible to anyone who needs them."

The launch of Advanced Insights: Self-Exclusion Best Practice aligns with Casino Guru Academy’s mission to offer valuable free education to iGaming professionals. The course is currently available on the Casino Guru Academy website and will be featured at iGB L!VE London 2026, a major event for the global iGaming community.
