The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has announced the details of a £4.75 million settlement with Evolution following a licensing review. During this review, it was discovered that the B2B live casino provider had its games available on six unlicensed gambling websites accessed by UK customers.
The regulator identified that these sites, operated by two unnamed companies, had offered Evolution's games without the necessary UK license between December 2023 and November 2024. Additionally, the UKGC found deficiencies in Evolution's anti-money laundering (AML) practices, noting that the company's risk assessment was outdated and failed to recognize the risk of unlicensed operators launching games.
According to the UKGC, Evolution did not meet customer due diligence requirements and lacked effective policies and procedures to prevent these violations. In response, Evolution acknowledged its breach of licensing regulations and committed to appointing an independent reviewer to evaluate its AML policies as part of the settlement agreement. While the Commission considered suspending Evolution's UK license, they opted against it due to the company's cooperative response and the corrective actions it undertook.
