Wildz First to Secure Finland’s iGaming License

Wildz has become the inaugural online gambling operator to obtain a license from Finland's newly regulated iGaming market.

Sam Brown, CEO of Wildz, expressed enthusiasm over this achievement, stating, "Receiving the amazing news of being the first operator to receive a license in Finland is a welcome reward for all the efforts of the team in the application process."

The Wildz Group has received a five-year authorization from Finland's National Police Board, effective from July 1, 2027. This significant step brings Finland closer to launching a regulated gambling market.

Brown further noted, "We’re excited about this milestone and what it represents for the future of Wildz Group. We believe that our brands will offer players in Finland a safe and engaging entertainment product for many years to come. We’re looking forward to July 2027."

According to recent reports, Finland has approved nearly 75 licenses, an increase from 50 in June. Among the other international operators vying for a license are Betsson, MGM Resorts-controlled LeoVegas, and the Swedish-Finnish trotting association joint venture, Hippos ATG Oy.

In the effort to curb illegal operations, the Finnish regulator has continued to impose penalties, including a $1.2 million fine on MagicPoro for advertising violations, which the company is currently contesting.

Additionally, the market is expected to implement a ban on autoplay features and will require 15-minute reminders for responsible gaming. Players will also be restricted to investing a maximum of €20 in slot games, which is further reduced to €10 for individuals under 25.
