Ukraine has transferred oversight of PlayCity, the country's gambling regulatory body, from the Minister of Digital Transformation to the Prime Minister. This change was enacted by the Cabinet of Ministers through Resolution No. 1133 on September 17, 2026.
Under the new arrangement, PlayCity will function under the direct supervision of the Prime Minister, whereas previously, its oversight fell to the Minister of Digital Transformation. PlayCity was established in 2025 as part of reforms aimed at regulating the gambling sector in Ukraine, and it is tasked with issuing licenses for gambling operations and addressing illegal gambling activities.
The resolution specifically modifies the organizational structure of PlayCity, maintaining its regulatory authority. This announcement comes shortly following a management shift within PlayCity, as agency head Hennadiy Novikov was dismissed from his position on August 26.
