The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has revealed that Evolution has reached a £4.75 million settlement following a comprehensive licensing review. The review uncovered that the live casino and B2B provider had its games listed on six gambling sites that were operating without proper licenses, making them accessible to UK players.
These unlicensed sites, run by two unnamed companies, displayed Evolution's games illegally from December 2023 to November 2024. Moreover, the UKGC found significant deficiencies in Evolution's anti-money laundering (AML) measures, noting that the company had an outdated risk assessment which failed to recognize the risk posed by these unlicensed operators. The Commission claimed that Evolution neglected to meet customer due diligence requirements and lacked adequate policies to prevent such violations.
In response, Evolution admitted to breaching licensing regulations and agreed to appoint an independent reviewer to assess its AML policies as stipulated in the settlement agreement. While the UKGC considered suspending Evolution’s UK license, they ultimately chose not to proceed with this action, recognizing the company's cooperation and the steps it took to rectify the issues.
