Playtech has expanded its presence in the UAE with its subsidiary VS Technology Ltd., which recently secured a Gaming-Related Vendor License from the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA). This achievement marks VS Technology as the 23rd company to receive a vendor license, allowing it to participate in the region’s regulated commercial gaming market.
Acquired by Playtech in 2009, VS Technology is known for developing the now-discontinued EdGE aggregation platform. Playtech joins a roster of other licensed suppliers, including major players such as Aristocrat, IGT, Light & Wonder, Novomatic, Konami, Scientific Games, and Cammegh.
Despite the growing number of licensed vendors, the UAE has issued only a limited number of operator licenses. These include the Land-Based Gaming Facilities License awarded for the $5.1 billion Wynn Al Marjan Island integrated project by Wynn Resorts in Ras Al Khaimah and the Lottery License granted to The Game LLC, the operator for the UAE Lottery.
In the region, gaming and betting activities are managed by Momentum and its division Coin Technology Projects LLC, utilizing the Play971 platform.
