ADI Predictstreet, a Gibraltar-licensed prediction market platform and FIFA’s Official Prediction Market Partner for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, has received regulatory approval to expand its services beyond football. On Thursday, the company announced its plans to develop prediction markets that will include various sectors such as sports, entertainment, culture, weather, and select political events.
Following a comprehensive review process, Gibraltar’s regulatory authorities have endorsed ADI Predictstreet’s initial regulatory framework, allowing the firm to phase in new, regulated prediction markets beyond the football-focused offerings.
Dimitrios Psarrakis, the chief executive of ADI Predictstreet, underscored the significance of this advancement: “Successfully completing this first phase with Gibraltar validates both our platform and our approach to responsible innovation,” he stated. While leveraging sports as a launching point for their global operations, Psarrakis noted that the company's long-term vision is to create a platform where users can accurately predict various real-world events that impact society.
The platform originally launched in Gibraltar as the peninsula's first prediction market, gaining support from local authorities.
Gibraltar’s Minister for Justice, Trade, and Industry, Nigel Feetham, KC MP, referred to the regulatory approval as a sign of “forward-looking regulation” that encourages new market development and attracts innovative businesses. He highlighted the swift global recognition resulting from the World Cup partnership, underscoring Gibraltar’s evolving financial and regulatory landscape.
However, challenges also loom, as Germany’s Gemeinsame Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL) has initiated a formal investigation into the platform’s advertising methods. The operator currently lacks a license to operate in Germany. The regulator stated it has opened a review process to ascertain whether ADI Predictstreet’s activities fall under illegal gambling as per German laws. The advertising campaign, prominently featured during World Cup matches, may also breach Germany’s regulations which prohibit unlicensed operators from marketing within its borders.
To enhance market liquidity and expand its geographic footprint, ADI Predictstreet has formed partnerships with prominent companies such as Kalshi, Fanatics Markets (US), Matchbook (UK, Ireland, and Brazil), and DAZN. The platform utilizes “ADI Chain,” a compliance-ready blockchain solution leveraging ZKsync’s Airbender zero-knowledge proof technology.
