Key Insights from Oddin.gg's Esports Betting Report

Insights from the latest Oddin.gg State of Esports Betting Report reveal several notable trends in the esports betting landscape. Esports bettors stake an average of nearly seven times more than those betting on traditional sports. This finding underlines the changing dynamics within the betting sector, indicating that esports, appealing to a younger and more affluent demographic, encourages higher wagering levels. In terms of betting volume, a 31% year-on-year rise has been reported across the board, building upon the previous year's remarkable growth of 103%. Major titles such as Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends, Dota 2, VALORANT, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang all recorded double-digit increases in both betting volume and bet counts in 2025. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang topped the list with a staggering 62% year-on-year growth in volume. Even established titles like League of Legends continue to exhibit robust performance, growing by 46%. At one of the premier events, the League of Legends World Championship, bettors averaged a stake of €77, representing a 166% increase from the previous year. In comparison, stakes for VALORANT and Dota 2 at their respective major events averaged €47 and €28. The report also highlights that live betting has surged, making up 72%-86% of total esports betting activity, with Dota 2 leading at 86%. This shift indicates the growing maturity of the vertical, with in-play betting allowing for heightened engagement due to the fast-paced nature of matches. Furthermore, the report emphasizes the emergence of sophisticated betting markets, including player props and utility markets, which have shown significant growth. For example, CS2's player- and utility-based markets grew by as much as 80% between major events, while combination markets in Dota 2 quadrupled in volume year-over-year. Such developments suggest that far from being an underdeveloped segment, esports betting is evolving with sophisticated bettors who place more bets and contribute to higher engagement levels, presenting an intriguing opportunity for operators.
