Casino operators are grappling with a unique challenge in attracting the next generation of players. Many young adults have grown up in a digital landscape defined by simplicity, speed, and instant gratification, yet the betting experience often feels disconnected from those expectations. Sports betting presents newcomers with complex odds and terminology, and the wait for results can feel lengthy. Meanwhile, traditional casino games appear to lack the dynamic, fast-paced engagement that characterizes platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
This gap inspired entrepreneur George Yashin to establish Swipe Games after he had a frustrating experience trying to place a football bet during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Despite his extensive background in founding businesses across various sectors, Yashin found the betting interface bewildering, ultimately resorting to a physical betting shop for help. When he looked at casino games, he noticed they seemed largely unchanged from the slot machines of years past.
“I started thinking about how to combine the really great monetisation of randomness in casino games with the attention loop of social media platforms,” Yashin explained. He envisioned a platform where users could bet on short videos, creating a fresh method of engagement.
As a result, Swipe Games emerged, a company based in Cyprus that is on track to define a new category in casino gaming with its innovative approach. Launched commercially late last year, Swipe Games has started gaining significant traction within the industry.
Rather than offering a conventional casino lobby with individual titles to select, Swipe Games adopts the format of a social media feed. Players engage with a seamless stream of short video clips, given three to five seconds to predict one of three potential outcomes. In the context of a football penalty shoot-out, the possibilities might include a goal, a miss, or a save, with the result revealed at the end of the clip. Players can swipe up for another clip if they aren’t interested in a current video.
“We are as quick as crash games, but the pattern and the feel are more like betting,” Yashin noted. Swipe Games currently features 10 games based on popular themes like football and cars, deliberately aligning with content that resonates on social media.
This familiarity helps bridge the gap for social media users transitioning into casino gaming. The behavior they instinctively perform online—watching, making decisions, swiping, and repeating—becomes the backbone of the gaming experience.
Yashin emphasizes that “the video itself is the game,” merging the worlds of betting and quick games. This reflects a larger trend where users increasingly seek straightforward ways to engage with outcomes, a demand that Swipe Games addresses with its fast-paced casino format.
The market response to Swipe Games has been overwhelmingly positive, as evidenced by the contracts signed since its launch. Yashin reports that the company has secured around 30 to 40 contracts with partners like BGaming, SoftSwiss, 1xBet, 01.tech, and Broadway, all eager to incorporate its products.
Yashin, despite his experience, expressed surprise at the industry’s enthusiastic reception. A Swipe Games business development manager with over 20 years in the field noted how easy it was to pitch the product, which is a strong indicator of its appeal in a crowded market. Among 50 leads generated through events and networks, only one expressed disinterest in integration, leaving the company with a pipeline of potential partners.
The player statistics are also promising, showing that the engagement with Swipe Games differs significantly from that seen with crash games. Average stakes for Swipe Games are higher than for traditional crash games, indicating a betting behavior reminiscent of sports wagering. In certain markets, the average bet was reported to be 20 times greater than that of a comparable crash game.
Retention rates are similarly encouraging, with day-one, day-seven, and day-30 retention benchmarks ranging notably higher than those for crash games. Players tend to engage with more rounds in each session, a behavior likely fueled by the fresh content generated through their social media habits.
Keeping content engaging is vital, as casino games must provide random outcomes without becoming repetitive. Swipe Games has turned to generative AI, utilizing technology from global providers as well as its own creators to produce over 20,000 videos. This content engine allows for rapid adaptation to emerging trends, with plans to release new content every two weeks.
“People always need something new. I think the next wave is games with more content inside,” Yashin said, outlining his aspirations for the future of Swipe Games. The company’s use of AI extends to various aspects, including speeding up integration with partners, with some integrations taking as little as 24 hours.
Swipe Games aims to achieve a significant milestone, targeting €600 million in monthly bet volume. However, Yashin envisions a broader application of his product, ultimately creating a feature akin to a ‘Swipe’ button within a larger gaming platform, offering an endless stream of personalized content, thus transforming the casino experience.
As the iGaming sector evolves, the convenience of generative and real-time AI may redefine traditional gaming experiences, potentially introducing AI-generated hosts for live casino settings. “I think the industry will adopt these technologies much more quickly than people might expect,” Yashin said.
The emergence of swipe gaming could inspire imitators, and Yashin remains optimistic about healthy competition, confident that Swipe Games’ speed and innovative capabilities are hard to replicate.
“Of course, you can copy the mechanic, but you cannot copy the creative itself,” he asserted, emphasizing the uniqueness of their offering.
Yashin believes that the iGaming industry has always been shaped by breakthrough formats, and he positions swipe games as the potential next evolution in player engagement, where a new wave of content-rich games meet the needs of an ever-evolving audience.
