DraftKings Secures Third Place in Prediction Market Rankings

In a nod to a moment from nearly 30 years ago, when David Letterman humorously acknowledged his slipping ratings, DraftKings CEO Jason Robins recently celebrated an upward trend for his company in the competitive prediction market arena. At the Next Predicts event in New York, Robins proudly announced that DraftKings has secured a third-place spot in terms of notional trading volume, a significant achievement that reflects the company’s growth and momentum.

Unlike Letterman, who displayed a billboard proclaiming his place in late-night TV, DraftKings has taken a positive approach since launching its market-making exchange just months ago. Robins highlighted that the company is backed by a strong Research & Development team, positioning them favorably against newer entrants in the prediction market space. DraftKings has the unique ability to cross-sell its prediction services alongside its well-established online sports betting, iCasino, and lottery offerings.

According to Aldrin Research, as of the week ending October 18, DraftKings’ exchange, known as DKeX, recorded an impressive $3 billion in notional volume, placing it third among its competitors. While it trails Polymarket's offshore platform, DraftKings narrowly surpassed Novig, which comes in fourth.

In a record-setting week, DraftKings’ exchange reached a high of $316 million in notional volume during Week 6 of the NFL season, marking the highest trading volume in the company’s history.

"We only launched a few months ago and we’re already the clear No. 3," Robins remarked during a conversation with CNBC’s Contessa Brewer, signaling optimism for the future of DraftKings in the prediction market landscape.
