DraftKings Rises to Third in Prediction Market Rankings

David Letterman once humorously acknowledged his declining ratings nearly 30 years ago, displaying a billboard that read "No. 3 In Late Night," as his show trailed behind competitors Jay Leno and ABC's Nightline. Thursday at Next Predicts in New York, Jason Robins, CEO of DraftKings, took a similar, yet more optimistic stance, announcing that DraftKings has climbed to the third spot in market rankings for notional volume in the prediction space. Unlike Letterman, DraftKings seems to be on an upward trend following the launch of its market-making exchange a few months ago.

Robins expressed confidence in DraftKings' positioning in the industry, crediting the company’s strong Research & Development team for its success. He noted that DraftKings holds a strategic advantage over newer prediction-market operators by integrating its predictions with established divisions, including online sports betting, iCasino, and lottery.

As of the week ending October 18, DraftKings' exchange, known as DKeX, achieved over $3 billion in notional volume, placing it firmly in third position among operators, per Aldrin Research. The platform ranked closely behind Polymarket's offshore offering and surpassed Novig, which landed in fourth place.

In a notable milestone, the DraftKings exchange recorded an all-time high of $316 million in notional volume last Sunday during Week 6 of the NFL season. "We only launched a few months ago and we’re already the clear No. 3," Robins remarked during a discussion with CNBC's Contessa Brewer.
