Andria Vidler has announced her departure as CEO of Allwyn UK, effective September 7, 2023. Phil Walker, an industry veteran, will step in on an interim basis.
Since assuming the role in October 2022, Vidler has led Allwyn through significant changes as it took on the operation of the UK National Lottery. Together with Allwyn UK Chair Justin King, she believes this is the right time for her to transition out of her position.
Vidler will continue to support Allwyn UK in an advisory role until the end of October, facilitating a smooth handover. King expressed gratitude for Vidler’s efforts, particularly her role in achieving what he described as the “much-needed and long-overdue transformation” of the National Lottery.
“With the major transition milestones delivered, now is the right time to look to the future and build on the solid foundations that have been laid to create a strong platform for future growth,” King commented.
In her own words, Vidler reflected on the extensive work involved in transforming the National Lottery: “This feels like the right moment for me to pass on the baton.” She emphasized that the transformation process is ongoing and essential for ensuring the National Lottery continues to serve the UK effectively.
Information from sources close to Allwyn indicates that the company’s priorities will remain intact, focusing on modernizing the National Lottery, enhancing player safety, and supporting charitable causes.
Phil Walker brings substantial experience to his interim role. He previously held various senior positions at William Hill, including online managing director and CCO, and recently served as a non-executive director at City Gaming Limited. Sources assert that Walker’s background makes him well-suited to manage the organization as Allwyn UK seeks a permanent CEO.
