The Spectrum Gaming Group’s 2022 report has been unsealed, playing a key role in the ongoing legal dispute between major gaming firms Playtech and Evolution. This development arises from Evolution's case against Black Cube, an intelligence agency hired by Playtech in 2020 to investigate alleged illegal activities by Evolution.
Black Cube’s findings have proven controversial, with Evolution firmly denying most of the claims made in the report. In response, Evolution commissioned Spectrum Gaming Group to evaluate its conduct and assess the legitimacy of the Black Cube report. Despite Evolution asserting that the Spectrum report cleared them of wrongdoing, it had remained confidential since its completion.
On Wednesday, Playtech issued a statement citing compliance failures alleged in the Spectrum report regarding Evolution. Among the report's findings were claims of “concerns around the availability of Evolution’s games in certain prohibited markets, the regulatory implications of its practices, and the lack of proactive monitoring of its customers.” However, it is crucial to note that Spectrum did not conclude that Evolution had engaged in any illegal activities.
