During the second quarter of 2026, bets of up to BRL50 (approximately $10) accounted for around 74% of all transactions on Brazilian betting platforms. While these smaller bets dominated transaction volume, they represented only about 23% of the overall financial value, underscoring the prevalence of low-value wagers in the betting market.
This information is drawn from a quarterly report by Paag, a tech company specializing in data intelligence for regulated markets. The analysis covered transactions among the company’s customers from April to June 2026, offering valuable insights into player behavior and market dynamics in Brazil.
Notably, transactions of up to R$20 ($4) made up approximately 45% of total transaction volume, but only contributed 8% to the total financial value. In contrast, bets ranging from R$20 to R$50 ($4 to $10) represented about 29% of transactions and 15% of the total financial figure processed. These statistics illustrate that consistent betting activity is closely tied to lower-value wagers made frequently by users.
On the other hand, bets exceeding R$50 ($10) encompassed about 77% of the total financial value for the quarter. Within this group, transactions between R$50 and R$1,000 ($10 to $200) accounted for 57% of the overall amount. Bets exceeding R$1,000 ($200), while making up less than 1% of transactions, still constituted around 20% of the total funds circulating through the platforms.
João Fraga, CEO of Paag, emphasized the importance of this data for understanding the market's evolution and identifying areas for improvement in operations, as well as in bettor safety and protection. He remarked, "Today, the data establishes market predictability from an operational standpoint, revealing clear patterns dominated by micro-transactions."
The analysis also highlights that player activity peaks between the 8th and 20th of each month, with the highest levels seen from the 16th to the 22nd. The 20th stands out as the day with the most activity in terms of both transaction volume and total financial value, while a decline is noted towards the end of the month.
Evening hours, specifically between 6:00pm and 11:00pm, account for the bulk of betting activity, comprising 39% of transactions. Users aged 25 to 49 contribute to approximately 80% of the total financial volume. São Paulo continues to be the primary hub for betting operations, leading in both transaction volume and financial value. The South and Centre-West regions report the highest average transaction values, while the North and Northeast are key areas for expanding the user base.
