During the second quarter of 2026, bets amounting to up to BRL50 (approximately $10) represented around 74% of all transactions on betting platforms in Brazil. While these low-value bets accounted for the majority of transactions, they comprised just about 23% of the total financial value, illustrating a market dominated by small wagers.
This information is derived from a quarterly report by Paag, a technology firm specializing in data intelligence for the regulated market. The report analyzed transactions within the company’s customer base from April to June 2026, offering crucial insights into player behavior and the dynamics of the Brazilian betting market.
Within this framework, bets of up to R$20 (roughly $4) made up about 45% of the transaction volume, although they only represented 8% of the total financial value. In contrast, bets ranging from R$20 to R$50 (between $4 and $10) accounted for approximately 29% of transactions and 15% of the total value processed. These figures indicate that frequent betting activity is closely linked to lower-value deposits made regularly by users.
On the other hand, wagers exceeding R$50 ($10) constituted around 77% of the total financial value handled in the quarter, with transactions ranging from R$50 to R$1,000 ($10 to $200) making up 57% of that total. Bets of over R$1,000 ($200) accounted for about 20% of the financial flows even though they represented less than 1% of the total transactions.
João Fraga, CEO of Paag, emphasized the importance of analyzing this data, stating, “This analysis is crucial for understanding not only the sector's trajectory but also where improvements can be made regarding actual operations and bettor safety and protection. Today, the data establishes market predictability from an operational standpoint, revealing clear patterns dominated by micro-transactions.”
Betting activity peaks between the 8th and 20th of each month, with the highest frequency seen from the 16th to the 22nd. The 20th stood out as the day with the highest participation in both volume and value, while a gradual decrease in activity was observed towards the end of the month.
The evening hours are particularly active, with 39% of transactions occurring between 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM. Additionally, users aged 25 to 49 are responsible for about 80% of the total financial volume. São Paulo leads the market operations in both transaction volume and value, while the South and Centre-West regions exhibit the highest average transaction values. Meanwhile, the Northern and Northeastern regions continue to expand the user base.
