Brazil's Betting Transactions Driven by Low-Value Bets in Q2 2026

In Brazil, bets of up to BRL50 (approximately $10) accounted for around 74% of all transactions on betting platforms during the second quarter of 2026. Although these low-value bets made up the majority of transactions, they contributed to about 23% of the total financial value, emphasizing the market's orientation towards smaller wagers.

This data originates from a quarterly report by Paag, a technology firm specializing in data analytics for the regulated market. The findings were derived from an analysis of transactions within Paag’s customer base throughout April to June 2026, offering insights into player behavior and the dynamics of the Brazilian betting market.

Within this framework, transactions of up to R$20 ($4) constituted about 45% of the volume but made up only 8% of the overall financial value. In contrast, bets ranging from R$20 to R$50 ($4 to $10) represented approximately 29% of transactions and 15% of the total value processed. This data indicates that a significant portion of betting activity is linked to frequent, low-value deposits from users.

On the other hand, wagers exceeding R$50 ($10) accounted for approximately 77% of the total financial value for the quarter. Among these, transactions between R$50 and R$1,000 ($10 and $200) comprised 57% of the overall amount, while bets over R$1,000 ($200), although constituting less than 1% of all transactions, contributed roughly 20% of the financial flow across the platforms.

"Analyzing this data is crucial for understanding not only the sector’s trajectory but also identifying areas for improvement in operations and bettor safety. The data establishes market predictability from an operational standpoint, showcasing clear patterns led by micro-transactions," stated João Fraga, CEO of Paag.

Betting activity is highest between the 8th and the 20th of each month, with peak participation occurring specifically from the 16th to the 22nd. The 20th of the month recorded the most significant volume and financial involvement, while activity gradually decreased toward the month's end.

The survey also highlights that evening hours account for a substantial portion of betting, with 39% of transactions taking place between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Players aged 25 to 49 drive around 80% of the total financial volume. São Paulo remains the leading market in both transaction volume and value. Meanwhile, the South and Centre-West regions see the highest average transaction values, while the North and Northeast regions contribute notably to user base growth.
