Wynn Resorts unveiled a 550-meter beachfront at its Wynn Al Marjan Island development on Tuesday. This area includes a sheltered lagoon and an artificial offshore reef, marking the first public preview of the resort's shoreline amenities. Construction is moving ahead with plans for a 2027 opening.
The beachfront is designed around a lagoon aimed at providing safe swimming and snorkeling opportunities. Submerged rock formations at both ends of the shore enhance the natural beauty and improve water conditions.
Wynn Resorts has also established engineered reef structures offshore to promote marine habitat development. Early observations suggest that various species of coral and marine life are already inhabiting these structures, and ospreys have been spotted nesting nearby, indicating a successful ecological balance.
Max Tappeiner, president of Wynn Al Marjan Island, expressed that the destination aims to be a private escape for guests, highlighting their unique beachfront experience with calm waters for swimming. He noted, "Wynn Al Marjan Island gives us the opportunity to create something entirely new for our portfolio."
In addition to its aquatic features, the resort will showcase fine art, including 17th-century tapestries, Victorian glassworks, and an 18th-century Buccleuch vase.
Originally announced in 2022, Wynn Al Marjan Island secured its commercial gaming license from the UAE’s General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority in October 2024, making it the first land-based operator granted such a license. Although conflicts in the Middle East momentarily halted work in February, construction resumed in March after ensuring employee safety. Wynn Resorts now expects to open the resort in September 2027, a six-month delay from previous estimates.
In the second quarter, Wynn reported a contribution of $48.1 million toward the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort, where the company holds a 40% stake.
