Allwyn Appoints Fredrik Ögren as New Group CTO

Allwyn AG has appointed Fredrik Ögren as its new group chief technology officer (CTO). Ögren, who brings extensive experience from his previous role at Betsson Group, where he served as CTO for five years, will report to Kresimir Spajic, CEO of Allwyn Digital.

At Betsson, he led technology strategies and enhanced large-scale platforms, facilitating the company's international growth, including its recent acquisition of Rhino Entertainment Group's Canadian B2C business. In his new role, Ögren will be responsible for shaping and delivering Allwyn's technology strategy, which aims to create a more integrated and efficient ecosystem to drive growth and improve customer experience across the company's portfolio.

Ögren expressed enthusiasm about joining Allwyn, highlighting the significance of technology in crafting exceptional player experiences and fostering innovation. He looks forward to collaborating with his new colleagues to enhance the technology infrastructure and support Allwyn's growth.

Spajic welcomed Ögren and noted his extensive industry background and capacity for leading technological transformations. "His expertise will be instrumental in building a more scalable technology platform to improve experiences for our customers and partners," he stated.

The appointment follows growth and leadership changes within Allwyn, as Brett Cross, who has been serving as interim group CTO, will take on a new role as CTO for global lottery and deputy group CTO, reporting to Ögren. This leadership adjustment aims to create a strong technology team to facilitate Allwyn's next phase of growth.

Allwyn's strategic expansion comes at a crucial time, with Spajic recently mentioning potential mergers and acquisitions on the horizon. Although discussions are ongoing, there is no immediate urgency to finalize any deals. Additionally, Allwyn has recruited Francesco Rodano, a former Playtech executive, as the new group head of responsible gaming, and appointed Phil Walker, a former senior figure at William Hill, as Allwyn UK CEO in August.
