Cirsa Reports Increase in Q3 Profit as Lottomatica Merger Advances

Cirsa has announced an operating profit of €195 million for the third quarter of 2026, reflecting a 6.8% increase compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the company’s revenue surged by 12%, totaling €628 million ($705 million).

The Spanish gaming group revealed that, excluding expenses related to its proposed merger with Italian operator Lottomatica, its operating profit would have reached €203 million, up 11.1% year-on-year.

This latest performance marks a significant milestone for Cirsa, extending its streak of rising quarterly operating profits to 73 consecutive quarters. For the first nine months of 2026, the company reported a 10% boost in revenue alongside a 7.8% increase in operating profit. It anticipates finishing the year at the top end of its previously indicated performance range, although it did not disclose this range in its announcement.

The fastest growth was observed in Cirsa's online gaming and sports betting segments, where amounts wagered experienced a rise of 43.4% during the quarter while net revenue increased by 19%. The company also noted a 39.4% rise in deposits, signaling enhanced customer engagement, though it did not provide details on profitability derived from the increased wagers and deposits.

Expanding its reach, Cirsa opened a new casino in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, and established a presence in Paraguay with two casinos and two gaming halls. Additionally, the group refurbished venues in Panama and Spain, and increased its slot machine offerings at Casino Marbella by more than 30.

In Spain, the slots division observed revenue and operating profit growth, attributed to effective machine selection, sales strategies, and cost management. Meanwhile, Italy's market performance remained stable, highlighted by robust results from video lottery terminals. Cirsa also confirmed the successful integration of recent acquisitions in the Italian gaming-hall sector.

Despite operating amid macroeconomic and geopolitical challenges, Cirsa reported that both recent acquisitions and existing operations significantly contributed to its growth.

On another note, the company has scheduled an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting for 30 November in Terrassa to discuss its proposed merger with Lottomatica. Announced in September, this merger is set to establish the second-largest publicly listed gaming and sports betting operator globally.

Cirsa CEO Antonio Hostench has noted that this merger will undoubtedly propel growth for the combined entity. He stated, "The combination of Cirsa and Lottomatica creates a world-class diversified gaming leader with leading positions across its core markets and significant opportunities to accelerate profitable growth."

The merger entails Lottomatica absorbing Cirsa through an EU cross-border merger, positioning Lottomatica as the surviving entity. The new entity is anticipated to trade on stock exchanges in both Spain and Italy, potentially addressing a market size of up to €34 billion by leveraging their combined operational reach in markets such as Portugal, Mexico, and Colombia.
