Allwyn AG has announced that Fredrik Ögren will assume the role of group chief technology officer (CTO).
Ögren joins Allwyn after a five-year tenure at Betsson Group, where he directed the company's technology strategy and supported international growth through the development of large-scale platforms. His efforts were pivotal in facilitating Betsson's recent acquisition of the Canadian B2C operations of Rhino Entertainment Group.
In his new role, Ögren will report to Kresimir Spajic, CEO of Allwyn Digital, and will be tasked with shaping and implementing Allwyn’s technology strategy to create a more interconnected and efficient ecosystem. The company aims to enhance its growth, solidify market positions, and improve customer experiences across its services.
Upon his appointment, Ögren expressed enthusiasm about joining Allwyn during this dynamic phase of its evolution. He emphasized the importance of technology in fostering innovative player experiences and achieving sustainable business success. Ögren looks forward to collaborating with colleagues to build a more connected technology platform and to support Allwyn's next growth chapter.
Spajic welcomed Ögren to the team, noting his extensive industry experience and expertise in leading technology initiatives. He stated, “We’re delighted to welcome Fredrik to Allwyn. His expertise will be instrumental in building a more scalable technology platform to deliver improved experiences for our customers and partners.”
In conjunction with Ögren’s appointment, Brett Cross, who has served as interim group CTO, will transition to a new position as CTO of global lottery and deputy group CTO, reporting directly to Ögren. This leadership change is part of Allwyn's strategy to strengthen its technology leadership team for upcoming growth.
This announcement comes as Allwyn is experiencing a period of rapid expansion. Spajic recently indicated that more mergers and acquisitions are on the horizon, with ongoing discussions, though he noted there is no immediate need to finalize any deals.
Additionally, Allwyn has recently appointed Francesco Rodano, a former executive at Playtech, as its new group head of responsible gaming. Phil Walker, a senior figure from William Hill, was also named the CEO of Allwyn UK in August.
