Phil Walker Takes Interim CEO Role at Allwyn UK as Andria Vidler Steps Down

Andria Vidler has resigned from her role as CEO of Allwyn UK, with industry expert Phil Walker appointed to fill the position on an interim basis. This transition, announced on Wednesday, will take effect on September 7, as Vidler concludes her tenure, which began in October 2023.

During her leadership, Vidler played a pivotal role in Allwyn's strategic shift to become the operator of the UK National Lottery. She and Allwyn UK Chair Justin King have mutually decided that this is the appropriate time for her departure. To facilitate a seamless transition, Vidler will remain in an advisory position until the end of October.

Justin King expressed gratitude for Vidler's significant contributions, particularly in achieving the long-overdue transformation of the National Lottery. "With the major transition milestones delivered, now is the right time to look to the future and build on the solid foundations that have been laid to create a strong platform for future growth," King stated.

Vidler commented, "Transforming the National Lottery is a marathon, not a sprint and, with the major transition now complete and the National Lottery in a stronger position to keep delivering for the nation, this feels like the right moment for me to pass on the baton."

According to a close source, Allwyn's UK priorities remain consistent, focusing on modernizing the National Lottery, enhancing player safety, and supporting charitable initiatives.

Phil Walker, stepping into the interim CEO role, brings extensive experience from his six-year tenure at William Hill, where he excelled in various senior positions, including online managing director and chief commercial officer. Recently, he served as a non-executive director at City Gaming Limited. Sources indicate that Walker's background uniquely qualifies him to guide Allwyn while the company searches for a permanent successor to Vidler.

Walker expressed enthusiasm about his new role, stating, "I am excited and proud to be taking up the baton from Andria and joining such a vital national institution at this important stage of its growth journey. As a long-standing National Lottery player, I know first-hand the difference it makes to communities across the UK and this is a huge part of what attracted me to the role. It will be a real honour to help build on the progress already made."
