Allwyn Announces Fredrik Ögren as New Group CTO

Allwyn AG has appointed Fredrik Ögren as its new group chief technology officer (CTO). The announcement was made on Tuesday, revealing that Ögren arrives at Allwyn after spending five years as the CTO of Betsson Group.

During his time at Betsson, he played a crucial role in crafting technology strategies and developing expansive platforms to fuel international growth across various markets. This period included Betsson’s acquisition of the Canadian B2C arm of Rhino Entertainment Group.

Ögren, who will report to Kresimir Spajic, CEO of Allwyn Digital, is expected to guide the organization’s technology strategy to create a more interconnected and efficient ecosystem. This initiative targets enhanced growth, improved market positions, and an enriched customer experience throughout Allwyn's operations.

Reflecting on his new role, Ögren said, "I am thrilled to be joining Allwyn at such an exciting stage in its growth journey. Technology plays a critical role in creating great player experiences, enabling innovation and supporting long-term business success. I look forward to working with colleagues across the group to build an even more connected technology ecosystem, strengthen our capabilities and help deliver the next phase of Allwyn’s growth."

Spajic welcomed Ögren, underscoring his extensive industry experience and success in leading technology transformations. "We’re delighted to welcome Fredrik to Allwyn. His expertise will be instrumental in building a more scalable technology platform to deliver improved experiences for our customers and partners,” he stated.

As part of this leadership restructuring, Brett Cross, who has served as the interim group CTO, will move into a newly established role as the CTO global lottery and deputy group CTO, reporting directly to Ögren. Allwyn aims to build a robust technology leadership team to drive its next growth phase.

This appointment comes during a significant expansion period for Allwyn. Spajic recently indicated that further mergers and acquisitions are expected, with several discussions already ongoing, but he emphasized that there is no immediate pressure to finalize any deals.

Furthermore, Allwyn has recently appointed Francesco Rodano, a former Playtech executive, as the new group head of responsible gaming. In August, Phil Walker, a previous senior official from William Hill, was also named the CEO of Allwyn UK.
