At the Next Predicts event in New York, Jason Robins celebrated a significant milestone for DraftKings, announcing that the company has secured a podium position in notional volume rankings within the prediction market space. Reflecting on a moment nearly three decades ago when David Letterman humorously acknowledged his own show's drop to third place in ratings, Robins showed a similar confidence in DraftKings’ positive trajectory following its recent launch of a market-making exchange.
Robins highlighted the strengths of DraftKings, noting the company’s solid Research & Development team and its ability to effectively cross-sell its prediction market offerings with other services, including online sports betting, iCasino, and lottery. This strategic positioning gives DraftKings an edge over newer competitors in the prediction market sector.
According to Aldrin Research, for the week ending October 18, DraftKings' exchange (DKeX) reached over $3 billion in notional volume, ranking it third overall among operators, just behind Polymarket's offshore platform and slightly ahead of Novig, which placed fourth. During Week 6 of the NFL season, the exchange hit a record high of $316 million in notional volume, marking the highest volume recorded in company history.
"We only launched a few months ago and we’re already the clear No. 3," Robins said during a discussion with CNBC’s Contessa Brewer, underscoring the rapid growth and success of DraftKings’ new venture.
