International Game Technology will provide sports betting technology for Rhode Island Lottery in the next three years.

IGT PlaySports and its commercial partner William Hill US power state-wide sports betting through the Sportsbook Rhode Island mobile app, and at Bally’s Twin River Lincoln Casino Resort, and Bally’s Tiverton Casino and Hotel.

Mark Furcolo said, “As the first US lottery to offer sports betting in the US, Rhode Island Lottery has been very happy with the program that we’ve built for the past five years. We are backed up by IGT’s technology of world-class and William Hill’s experience as an operator.

IGT recently invested substantial resources in enhancing our mobile sports betting app and platform. The upgrades we are making will allow us to increase revenue, and provide a solution which is competitive in the dynamic regional sports betting markets.

IGT, in addition to its PlaySports Technology, is also the sole supplier and service provider of video lottery and instant ticket solutions, as well as lottery and ilottery technology to Rhode Island Lottery. IGT PlaySports has been deployed in more than 80 gaming establishments across North America and the US.

Joe Asher is IGT’s President of Sports Betting. He said, “The Rhode Island Lottery was one of the first adopters of sports betting after PASPA, and IGT looks forward to continuing driving Rhode Island sports betting growth.”

Rhode Island has a lot of sports enthusiasts who are very dedicated to their New England teams. IGT’s enhancements to the Lottery’s Sports Betting Platform and App provide players with an intuitive and convenient player experience. They also yield high returns, which support the Lottery’s commitment to generate revenue for good causes.

In February 2023 the revenue from sports betting in Rhode Island was unchanged year on year, but there was only a slight increase in handling.

The wagering revenue generated for January was $3.6m. This is the same amount as the previous year’s month, though it represents a 30.8% drop from the $5.2m of the prior month.
