The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has revealed the specifics of Evolution's £4.75 million settlement, stemming from a licensing review. During this review, the B2B and live casino provider was discovered to have games hosted on six unlicensed gambling websites that were accessible to UK customers.
The regulator reported that these websites, operated by two unnamed companies, had offered Evolution's games without a legal UK license from December 2023 to November 2024. Furthermore, the UKGC identified deficiencies in Evolution's anti-money laundering (AML) measures, noting that the company's risk assessment was outdated and failed to identify the risk posed by unlicensed operators bringing games to market. The Commission stated that Evolution also did not meet customer due diligence requirements and lacked effective policies and procedures to prevent these issues.
Acknowledging its violations of licensing regulations, Evolution agreed to engage an independent reviewer to examine its AML policies as part of the settlement agreement. Although the Commission considered suspending Evolution’s UK license, it ultimately opted against this action, citing the company's cooperation and the corrective measures it implemented.
