The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) has introduced new regulations targeting licensed gambling operators and suppliers looking to wind down their operations under the National Ordinance on Games of Chance (LOK). These guidelines are intended for both B2C and B2B entities, detailing the required procedures for voluntarily surrendering a license, revoking licenses, and shutting down gaming websites and applications.
For operators choosing to surrender their licenses, a formal letter must accompany the submission. This letter should explain the reasons for the closure, the timeline for discontinuing services to customers, and a detailed wind-down report. In cases where a license has been revoked or an application has been denied, the affected companies must stop accepting bets immediately and transition to a wind-down phase.
Additionally, the CGA has indicated that it may permit operators to close their gambling websites or apps without canceling their licenses, provided that they notify the CGA of their situation. The authority also plans to collaborate with both local and international agencies to pursue companies that do not fulfill their financial obligations, which includes settling unpaid player claims.
