Playtech has expanded its presence in the UAE market as its subsidiary VS Technology Ltd has secured a Gaming-Related Vendor License from the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA). This milestone makes VS Technology the 23rd company to receive such a vendor license, enabling it to participate in the region's legal commercial gaming sector.
Acquired by Playtech in 2009, VS Technology is known for developing the now-defunct EdGE aggregation platform.
Alongside Playtech, the vendor license roster includes reputable companies such as Aristocrat, IGT, Light & Wonder, Novomatic, Konami, Scientific Games, and Cammegh.
While the number of licensed vendors has been steadily increasing, the UAE has only issued a limited number of operator licenses. Notable examples include the Land-Based Gaming Facilities License granted to Wynn Resorts for its $5.1 billion Wynn Al Marjan Island integrated project in Ras Al Khaimah, and a Lottery License awarded to The Game LLC, responsible for the UAE Lottery.
In the region, gaming and betting operations are managed by Momentum and its division, Coin Technology Projects LLC, through the Play971 platform.
