BC.GAME has officially launched its sports betting and online casino services in Ghana, having obtained the necessary regulatory approval.
This development was made public on Wednesday and signifies BC.GAME’s entry into its third regulated market, joining Mexico and Nigeria, the latter being added earlier this year.
Following its approval from the Gaming Commission of Ghana, the company has activated its platform at bcgame.com.gh.
Adrian Chen, the senior legal counsel at BC.GAME, emphasized the significance of this launch as a key milestone in the company’s strategy for regulated expansion. “Ghana has a well-established regulatory framework, and entering the market in accordance with local licensing requirements represents an important step in BC.GAME’s regulated growth strategy,” Chen stated.
He added, “Our focus is to operate transparently and responsibly, provide clear information to local users, and ensure that our products and operational processes remain aligned with applicable Ghanaian requirements. We look forward to building a sustainable, long-term presence in the market.”
BC.GAME also highlighted the promising landscape of the Ghanaian market, which is characterized by its “well-established regulatory structure.” Among the attractions for BC.GAME is Ghana’s “highly connected population,” as well as its robust football and digital entertainment culture.
To cater to local needs, BC.GAME has customized its operations to create a platform that is more accessible for the Ghanaian user.
Data from H2 Gambling Capital indicates that Ghana's online gross win is projected to hit $903.5 million in 2025, reflecting a 24% increase from the previous year's total of $729.8 million.
While the African gambling market is typically viewed as being led by the 'Big Three'—South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya—Ghana is emerging as a significant contender. Peter Kesitilwe, CEO of the African iGaming Alliance, has pointed out that Ghana is gaining recognition for its strong regulatory framework. According to him, “Ghana has developed a reputation as one of West Africa’s most stable and maybe commercially attractive markets. It is trying to improve its regulatory maturity. The other key thing is political stability because policymakers are the ones attracting investors. So many operators now see Ghana as an important strategic growth market within the region.”
BC.GAME enters the Ghana market following the February launch of Kaizen Gaming’s Betano brand in the same region.
However, BC.GAME has faced challenges in the past, including the withdrawal of its licence in Curaçao in December last year, which it attributed to an “increasingly hostile” operating environment. This withdrawal came after a November court ruling that labeled BC.GAME bankrupt due to their failure to pay owed funds to players.
The company was also stripped of its white label licence in the UK, raising concerns regarding its sponsorship deal with English football club Leicester City.
In response to the bankruptcy claims, BC.GAME stated, “BC.GAME has stated that it had no issues with liquidity or financial stability and is continuing to grow globally with the expansion of operations into new regulated markets.”
