Konami Gaming Inc. has achieved ISO/IEC 27001 certification for its information security management system (ISMS), underscoring its dedication to high cybersecurity and data protection standards. This certification applies to both its Synkros casino management system and the Konami Online Interactive iGaming platform.
Carried out by Schellman & Co. LLC, the certification encompasses the company’s security governance, operational controls, and risk management processes, which are essential for its land-based and online gaming technologies.
ISO/IEC 27001 serves as the worldwide standard for information security management. It mandates that organizations implement a thorough framework for recognizing, managing, and continually enhancing information security risks. Konami Gaming’s certification is valid for three years, with annual surveillance audits scheduled to begin in 2027 to ensure ongoing compliance and evaluate the effectiveness of its security measures.
The assessment involved a detailed independent audit of various business functions, including information technology, cybersecurity, technical compliance, human resources, systems engineering, marketing, and iGaming operations.
The certification specifically includes Synkros, the casino management system utilized by gaming operators around the globe. Tom Soukup, Senior Vice President and Chief Systems Product Officer at Konami Gaming, commented that this certification highlights the company’s sustained commitment to protecting customer data and maintaining secure operational environments. He noted that the company's research and development, quality assurance, and customer support teams collaborate effectively to ensure that Synkros meets stringent standards of data privacy, system integrity, and information security.
The scope of the certification also encompasses Konami Online Interactive, addressing the platform’s development, deployment, and daily operations. Eduardo Aching, Vice President of iGaming and International Gaming Operations, referred to this accomplishment as a significant step forward in Konami’s ongoing investment in cybersecurity and responsible digital gaming infrastructure. By unifying both its online and land-based technologies under a common information security framework, Konami has developed a consistent governance model throughout its product offerings.
Brian Alu, Vice President of Information Technology, affirmed that the certification showcases Konami Gaming’s long-standing commitment to compliance and operational excellence. Instead of launching new products or features, the certification serves as independent validation that the company’s security management practices meet international standards. As cybersecurity becomes increasingly critical across the global gaming landscape, the ISO 27001 certification provides operators with added confidence that Konami’s systems are founded on solid information security protocols and are subjected to continuous independent scrutiny.
