Wynn Resorts has announced the construction of a 550-meter beachfront at its Wynn Al Marjan Island integrated resort. This project features a sheltered lagoon and an offshore artificial reef, marking a significant development in the resort's shoreline amenities as it prepares for its anticipated opening in 2027.
The newly completed beachfront is designed around a protected lagoon, which caters specifically to swimming and snorkeling activities. Submerged rock formations flanking the shoreline enhance the area's natural beauty and improve water quality.
To support marine life, a series of engineered reef structures has been introduced offshore, aiming to promote habitat formation. Wynn Resorts reports initial success, with coral and marine species already appearing on these reef units. Ospreys have also been spotted nesting in the region, indicating a positive trend in ecological integration.
Max Tappeiner, president of Wynn Al Marjan Island, expressed the vision behind the project: "The ambition was to create a shoreline where guests can escape, somewhere they can swim in calm, clear water and enjoy the beachfront in complete privacy." He emphasized that this development represents "Wynn Resorts’ first beachfront destination."
He further remarked, "Wynn Al Marjan Island gives us the opportunity to create something entirely new for our portfolio, where exceptional surroundings and intuitive service come together in a way only Wynn can deliver."
In addition to the beachfront amenities, the resort will house a gallery of fine art that includes paintings, 17th-century tapestries, Victorian-era cut glass, and an 18th-century Buccleuch vase.
The Wynn Al Marjan Island integrated resort was first unveiled in 2022, with Wynn Resorts receiving a commercial gaming license from the UAE’s General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority in October 2024. As the first operator to be granted a land-based gaming license in the region, Wynn anticipates opening its doors in March 2027.
Delays due to ongoing military conflict in the Middle East resulted in a temporary suspension of work in February, but construction resumed in March, after measures were implemented to ensure employee safety and security. Following these events, Wynn Resorts has indicated that the resort's opening is now set for September 2027, a six-month delay from the initial schedule.
In its second quarter financial report, Wynn disclosed that it invested $48.1 million in the project, maintaining a 40% stake in the development.
