Wynn Resorts announced on Tuesday the development of a 550-meter beachfront at the Wynn Al Marjan Island integrated resort, which will feature a sheltered lagoon and an artificial offshore reef. This update provides the first public look at the resort’s planned shoreline attractions, building anticipation ahead of its opening set for 2027.
The new beachfront surrounds a lagoon tailored for swimming and snorkeling, while submerged rock formations flanking the shoreline augment its natural beauty and improve water quality.
To support marine life, engineered reef structures have been put in place offshore, with initial reports suggesting that coral and various marine species are beginning to inhabit these newly created habitats. Observations of nesting ospreys nearby further indicate positive ecological integration within the area.
Max Tappeiner, president of Wynn Al Marjan Island, emphasized the objective to craft a shoreline that allows guests to fully enjoy swimming in serene, clear waters while experiencing privacy. He remarked on the significance of this development, calling it "Wynn Resorts’ first beachfront destination."
"Wynn Al Marjan Island provides us with the chance to create something entirely distinctive within our portfolio, combining exceptional settings with attentive service in a truly unique way," Tappeiner stated.
In addition to its natural features, the resort will house a collection of fine art, including paintings, 17th-century tapestries, Victorian cut glass, and an 18th-century Buccleuch vase.
Wynn Al Marjan Island was first revealed in 2022, and Wynn Resorts secured its commercial gaming license from the UAE’s General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority in October 2024. As the first entity to receive a land-based license in the region, Wynn has anticipated a launch in March 2027. However, work on the project was briefly paused in February due to ongoing regional conflicts but resumed in March once safety measures for all staff were implemented. The anticipated opening has since been revised to September 2027, six months later than originally planned.
In their Q2 financial report, Wynn Resorts disclosed that they invested $48.1 million into the resort's development during that quarter, where the company maintains a 40% ownership stake.
