Wynn Resorts has unveiled a striking 550-meter beachfront at its Wynn Al Marjan Island development, marking a significant milestone in the resort's construction ahead of its anticipated opening in 2027.
This newly created beachfront features a protected lagoon designed for swimming and snorkeling, with submerged rock formations at both ends that enhance the natural beauty of the shoreline and improve water conditions.
In an effort to promote marine life, Wynn has installed engineered reef structures offshore intended to foster habitat formation. Early observations show coral and marine species beginning to inhabit these new reef units. Additionally, nesting ospreys have been spotted nearby, indicating a successful integration of the local ecosystem.
Max Tappeiner, president of Wynn Al Marjan Island, expressed the vision behind the project, stating, "The ambition was to create a shoreline where guests can escape, somewhere they can swim in calm, clear water and enjoy the beachfront in complete privacy." He highlighted that this development marks Wynn Resorts' debut as a beachfront destination.
Tappeiner elaborated, "Wynn Al Marjan Island gives us the opportunity to create something entirely new for our portfolio, where exceptional surroundings and intuitive service come together in a way only Wynn can deliver."
In addition to the beach, the resort plans to showcase an impressive collection of fine art, featuring works from various periods, including 17th-century tapestries, Victorian-era cut glass, and an 18th-century Buccleuch vase.
Wynn Al Marjan Island was first announced in 2022, and the resort received its commercial gaming license from the UAE's General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority in October 2024, making it the first operator to be granted a land-based license in the UAE.
Despite disruptions due to ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which slowed construction in February, work resumed in March after safety measures were put in place for employees. Wynn has now confirmed the resort's opening for September 2027, extending the timeline by six months from the initial estimate.
In its Q2 financial release, Wynn Resorts reported an investment of $48.1 million in the Wynn Al Marjan Island project, in which it holds a 40% stake.
