Polymarket Partners with New York Yankees for MLB Deal

Polymarket, the operator of a prediction market, has solidified its standing in the U.S. sports sector by signing a partnership agreement with the New York Yankees. This collaboration names Polymarket the official prediction market partner for the Yankees.

As part of this arrangement, fans will see Polymarket’s branding featured on LED signage at Yankee Stadium throughout the remainder of the 2026 Major League Baseball season.

"We are proud to become a partner of one of the most iconic teams, not just in baseball, but in all of sports," remarked Ari Borod, President of Sports Business Development at Polymarket.

This represents Polymarket's second major sports partnership in only three days, following an agreement earlier this week with the ATP Tour, the leading governing body of men’s professional tennis.

The New York Yankees agreement enhances Polymarket’s foothold in the baseball arena. Earlier in March, the company had announced a deal that granted it exclusive access to MLB branding, enabling it to reference official team names and logos, such as the “Boston Red Sox.” Competitors, however, must use more generic terms like “Pro Baseball Championships.”

The popularity of MLB games is mirrored in the significant trading volumes conducted on the Polymarket platform. Just on August 7, nearly $500,000 was traded in anticipation of the outcomes of three MLB games, and overall trading on World Series contracts has neared $38.5 million.

The March agreement also allowed MLB to feature Polymarket branding across various media channels and official events. The Yankees deal will initiate further collaborations, aimed at providing fans unique ways to engage with the platform during the season.

Michael Tusiani, Senior Vice President of Partnerships for the New York Yankees, expressed enthusiasm about the relationship, stating, "We look forward to elevating Polymarket’s brand awareness both at Yankee Stadium and across our fan base through signage and fan experience opportunities."

In addition to the Yankees, Polymarket has earlier this year secured an exclusive deal with Major League Soccer, the largest professional soccer league in North America. Last month, the operator also formalized an agreement with Liga MX, which is Mexico’s premier soccer league. Earlier in June, Polymarket took steps towards entering the European market through an agreement with the German Bundesliga.

This agreement will enable U.S.-based customers to trade Bundesliga match contracts starting in the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Polymarket has emphasized that its partnerships reflect an ongoing investment in expanding its presence across globally recognized sports leagues and franchises. Both Polymarket and its competitor Kalshi have also established multi-year partnerships with the National Hockey League.

In recent developments, Kalshi has begun exploring less prominent sports such as padel, announcing itself as the Official Prediction Market Partner of the Pro Padel League.

Despite these advances, prediction markets have encountered pushback from various sports leagues. Recently, both the NFL and NBA have petitioned the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to impose new regulations on the prediction markets sector akin to sports betting regulations utilized by states.

While the CFTC claims that prediction market exchanges provide financial services rather than gambling, it has yet to respond to the leagues’ requests. CFTC Chairman Michael Selig criticized states that have sought to regulate prediction markets under their gambling laws, suggesting they are attempting to negate federal law.

Meanwhile, a federal judge in Utah permitted the state’s Attorney General to enforce strict gambling laws on Kalshi, highlighting varied state responses to the CFTC.
