DATA.BET's Practical Guide to Fast Sportsbook Launches

In the highly competitive world of sports betting and casino operations, speed to market has emerged as a significant edge. Projections indicate that the global online gaming market will witness an 11% growth by 2026, underscoring the need for operators to showcase agility to capture new opportunities.

Amid this rush to launch, many operators have encountered challenges, often sacrificing reliability and user experience in the interest of hastening the rollout. Eugene Ocheredko, head of integrations at DATA.BET, cautions against the pitfalls of prioritizing speed too heavily. "A fast launch is valuable, but if you're rushing through every stage without a solid plan and skilled team, the likelihood of errors increases," he explained. Ocheredko highlighted that while swift processes are beneficial, they should not compromise essential aspects like platform testing and integration. "The sportsbook integration might be ready, but if a critical component, like the payment provider, isn't fully operational, problems will arise."

Striking a balance is crucial. DATA.BET provides Single Page Application (iFrame) integrations in as little as one to two weeks, while API integrations, which include odds feeds and risk management, typically require around a month. Clients range from sportsbooks needing iFrame integration to casinos wanting to incorporate sports betting and platform providers seeking to expand their offerings.

"The speed of integration really hinges on the client's requirements," Ocheredko noted. Smaller operators can benefit from quick integrations but often face more comprehensive challenges before going live. For larger operators with existing traffic, rapid integration becomes vital, as delays can directly equate to lost revenue.

In 2023, DATA.BET has already completed over 15 integrations, a significant number of which were finalized before the FIFA World Cup, enhancing their footprint in the marketplace. Ocheredko emphasized that successful, quick launches depend heavily on collaboration and trust. He remarked, "Some suppliers practice a 'fire and forget' model, which leaves operators to navigate integration independently. Our approach is distinctly different."

The company promotes collaboration early in the process, often engaging with prospective clients at industry events like iGB L!VE to foster relationships that facilitate smoother integration. After confirming an integration agreement, DATA.BET establishes a dedicated communication channel, often through Slack or Microsoft Teams, ensuring consistent interaction throughout the integration phase.

Ocheredko also pointed out that a single point of contact with technical expertise is crucial for successful integration. This individual not only understands the technology but also the client's business needs, ensuring that requested features meet underlying challenges without unnecessary additions. "We strive to anticipate market needs rather than merely react to them," he explained. This forward-thinking approach has led to innovations like the Pitch Tracker, a tool that visualizes player activity during games, enhancing insights for esports betting.

Comprehensive testing is a critical component of quick integrations. DATA.BET requires extensive end-to-end testing before allowing a client to go live. Ocheredko shared that automated testing processes have significantly improved efficiency, reducing tasks that once took a full day to mere seconds. "Today, our QA engineer runs automated tests through our internal tools and manually validates core user journeys, completing everything in a matter of hours."

The integration process benefits from AI tools, which can substantially enhance productivity for engineers and managers alike. Ocheredko anticipates further optimizations that may shrink API integration timelines to around two weeks.

Such advancements are essential, particularly as DATA.BET often handles multiple integrations at once. "If we want to maintain high support levels, we need to complete integrations efficiently," he said. He cautioned against equating team size with success, noting that a cumbersome team structure can hinder communication and quality control.

Post-integration support is also a priority for DATA.BET, with an impressive average response time of just 105 seconds and an issue resolution time of two hours and 16 minutes. Ocheredko stressed that the operational phase following a client's launch is equally important, stating, "We maintain close contact with clients to address their needs and evolving requirements quickly."

Trust is fundamental in the online gaming industry, where reputations play a crucial role. Ocheredko remarks that firms making grandiose claims about integration should be treated with skepticism until proven otherwise. "This industry is built on trust and reputation; consistently successful integrations enhance our ability to attract new clients," he concluded.
