The Gambling Regulators European Forum (GREF) has announced a reorganization of its board, featuring the exit of two enduring members and the introduction of two new officials.
GREF serves as a cooperative network, uniting national gambling regulators from across Europe and beyond to promote dialogue, share information, and exchange best practices in regulatory strategies.
Tim Miller, who recently stepped down as the UK Gambling Commission's treasurer, has also resigned from the GREF board. Miller, who contributed to GREF for several years, played a pivotal role in the UK during a crucial phase that saw significant reforms in online gambling regulation and affordability checks, prompting GREF to express appreciation for his service.
Jean-Michel Costes has also departed the board following his exit from France's Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ). Costes was a member during a time when various European regulators, including the ANJ, focused on enhancing advertising regulations and improving player protection. GREF acknowledged Costes for his committed involvement.
Ian Angus has been appointed to take over Miller's position as treasurer. Angus, who is the director of policy at the UK Gambling Commission, has been actively involved in policy development since 2020, including participation in the Gambling Act white paper and its recommendations for financial risk assessments. His addition reflects the ongoing presence of UK perspectives within GREF amidst personnel shifts at the Gambling Commission. Ruth Evans fills the role of new chair at the UK Gambling Commission, succeeding Charles Counsell.
In addition, Olivia Petit has been designated as GREF's board secretary. A professor at KEDGE Business School, Petit focuses her research on consumer behavior in digital settings and the implications of emerging technologies.
