Scientific Games is on the lookout for a new CEO as Pat McHugh has announced his retirement, effective September. McHugh has held the CEO position since April 2022 and has served the company in various prominent roles over the years. Following his retirement, he will take on the role of vice chair and strategic adviser. Until the transition is complete, Kevin Schneider will step in as the interim CEO.
In his retirement announcement, Pat McHugh remarked, "Announcing my retirement now allows the board to conduct an open search for the best leader to guide the company through its next phase of growth while ensuring a smooth leadership transition. Scientific Games has an experienced leadership team, talented employees, and a bright future. I look forward to seeing it continue serving lotteries around the world."
David Nowak, chairman of Scientific Games, commended McHugh for his contributions, stating, "Throughout his career, Pat has helped strengthen the company, expand its global lottery business, and build trusted relationships with customers around the world."
The company expressed confidence in Kevin Schneider as he takes over leadership during this period. Nowak added, "Kevin has a deep understanding of our business, and he is a proven leader. Kevin and our experienced leadership team will continue executing the company’s strategy while providing the continuity and service our customers have come to expect as the board conducts its search for our next CEO."
Schneider, who joined the Scientific Games board in 2022 and was appointed vice chair in March 2026, brings over 35 years of executive experience, including significant leadership positions at Genworth Financial, where he was chief operating officer and managed the mortgage insurance divisions.
