Khalid Reede Jones will assume the Chicago-based role on 6 July, taking charge of expanding Allwyn’s presence across the region.
Global gambling group Allwyn has appointed Khalid Reede Jones as the new chief executive officer of its North American division, the company announced on Tuesday.
Jones will assume the Chicago-based role on 6 July, taking charge of expanding Allwyn’s presence across the region.
Jones joins Allwyn from the Virginia Lottery, where he served as executive director. He brings over 20 years of experience in lottery, gaming enforcement, licensing and private investment.
Allwyn highlighted his “rare combination of commercial discipline, regulatory credibility and digital-first thinking”, as key assets for the role.
US expansion
In his new position, Jones will be responsible for overseeing Allwyn’s North American operations, focusing on expanding its market footprint and delivering technology and games to lottery customers throughout the region.
This includes serving as the operating partner for the Illinois Lottery under Allwyn’s existing state contract. However, his portfolio does not extend to PrizePicks, Allwyn’s majority-owned fantasy sports business.
Allwyn’s appointment of Jones comes amid its ongoing strategy to diversify its portfolio and expand into new digital offerings. In 2025 the gorup acquired US platform PrizePicks for $1.6 billion amid plans to venture into US daily fantasy sports. Jones’ portfolio does not extend to PrizePicks.
The company has prioritised securing long-term public-private partnerships in the US market, evident in its 2022 win of the 10-year concession to operate the Illinois Lottery.
A number of other high-profile hires have been made at the company in recent months including bringing in industry veteran Kresimir Spajic to lead its digital transformation. The lottery company also appointed Katie Harbron as its director of games in the UK earlier this year as a way to enhance its National Lottery portfolio.
Allwyn first took over the National Lottery contract in 2024.
‘A digitally minded leader’
Robert Chvátal, Allwyn’s chief executive, praised Jones’ appointment, notinf: “I’m pleased to share that Khalid Reede Jones will be joining us as CEO of Allwyn North America. Khalid brings a rare mix of regulatory insight, commercial experience and a genuine commitment to responsible growth.
“A digitally minded leader who understands the power of partnerships and innovation, I know his perspective and energy will be hugely valuable to our North American business.”
