The group behind the Racing Post has hired a new technology chief to support its next phase of growth.
Spotlight Sports Group has appointed Adam Gill as its new chief technology officer, strengthening its senior leadership team.
Gill joined Spotlight on 2 June from market research company Savanta. He will lead technology and engineering across the Spotlight group, including software development and team management.
Additionally, he will also lead Spotlight’s AI adoption programme, with a focus on utilising technology to engage new audiences.
Based in Spotlight’s London office, Gill will look to use his experience across data-led businesses to bolster the offering of Spotlight’s sports media outlet Racing Post.
He voiced his excitement at the new role, stating his belief that Spotlight had built “something genuinely rare” with its trusted brands and engaged customer base.
“As Racing Post enters its 40th year, there is a real opportunity to use technology to engage new audiences, deepen the value we deliver to operators and make AI a practical capability across the business,” Gill said.
“I can’t wait to get started, work alongside the senior leadership team and meet the team that has built this platform.”
Gill’s experience set to support Spotlight investment
Chris Duncan, COO of Spotlight, highlighted Gill’s extensive experience in spearheading technology for data-led companies.
“He will play a key role as we invest in our consumer and retail products, grow our subscriptions capability and make AI a practical capability across the group,” Duncan explained.
Gill’s arrival comes amid continued investment in Spotlight’s product offering.
Earlier this year, Spotlight unveiled its Racing Innovation strategy for 2026, with two major product releases.
Spotlight introduced Smart View Tipping Feed and Racing Bet Builder for operators in January, with the two products developed to provide operators with modern, algorithm-driven tools to enhance customer engagement while simplifying the betting experience.
At the time, Spotlight’s B2B managing director, Sam Houlding, said: “Smart View Tipping Feed and Racing Bet Builder represent the next evolution of our fantastic Smart View product, with both innovations delivering modern, data driven solutions that give operators powerful new ways to engage racing audiences, and give punters easily digestible, trusted guidance, crafted from decades of Spotlight expertise.”
