Gaming1 has acquired all shares of Carousel, marking the end of a 14-year partnership between the two companies. Renaud Thys, who oversees mergers and acquisitions at Gaming1, announced the acquisition on his LinkedIn profile. Details regarding the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Since 2012, Gaming1 and Carousel have collaborated, with Gaming1 providing technology and content for Carousel's Belgian operations. This deal enables Gaming1 to gain complete control over the operator and its customer base.
The company has already begun the integration process following the acquisition and stated that there will be no changes to Carousel's workforce. Juan Covacevich, head of interactive at Gaming1, highlighted the significance of the Casino1 platform, saying, "Casino1 shows our ability to build reliable technology in Wallonia, with player protection at the core. It is a locally developed platform, designed with high standards and responsibility to support a sustainable and regulated sector."
This acquisition comes on the heels of Gaming1's launch of its online-only brand, Casino1, in the summer of 2025, which emphasized its commitment to player protection. Sylvain Boniver, Gaming1's chief operating officer, commented, "We believe this acquisition will further strengthen our digital presence in Belgium and enhance the fun and engaging entertainment experience we offer our players. It will also support our ambition to provide a safe, responsible and distinctive offering in the regulated Belgian market."
