Q2 2026: Low-Value Bets Dominate Brazilian Betting Market

During the second quarter of 2026, wagers of up to BRL50 (approximately $10) comprised about 74% of all transactions on Brazil's betting platforms. Despite making up the majority of transactions, these low-value bets contributed to only around 23% of the total financial value, highlighting the tendency of the market to favor smaller wagers.

The findings originate from a quarterly report by Paag, a technology firm that specializes in data intelligence for regulated markets. Their analysis of customer transactions from April to June 2026 offers valuable insights into player behavior and the dynamics of the Brazilian betting market.

Transactions of up to R$20 (about $4) accounted for roughly 45% of the transaction volume but represented a mere 8% of the overall financial value. In contrast, bets between R$20 and R$50 (ranging from $4 to $10) comprised around 29% of the transactions and 15% of the total financial activity. This indicates that frequent betting behavior is closely tied to the regularity of smaller deposits made by users.

On the other hand, wagers exceeding R$50 (more than $10) accounted for approximately 77% of the total financial value during the quarter. Among these, bets ranging from R$50 to R$1,000 (or $10 to $200) made up 57% of that financial total. Notably, while bets over R$1,000 (more than $200) constitute less than 1% of overall transactions, they represented around 20% of the financial movement through the platforms.

“Understanding this data is essential for grasping the sector’s future and identifying potential enhancements in operations and the safety of bettors,” said João Fraga, CEO of Paag. “The current insights provide operational predictability in the market, showcasing a clear trend towards micro-transactions.”

Activity among players tends to peak from the 8th to the 20th of each month, with the highest betting frequency occurring between the 16th and the 22nd. The 20th stood out as the day with the highest participation in both transaction volume and financial value during the quarter, while activity decreased towards the month's end.

Evening hours are particularly popular for betting, with 39% of transactions happening between 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM. Users aged 25 to 49 account for approximately 80% of total financial volume. SĂŁo Paulo remains the leading market in both transaction volume and value. Meanwhile, the South and Centre-West regions report the highest average transaction values, whereas the North and Northeast regions continue to see growth in their user base.
