During the second quarter of 2026 in Brazil, bets of up to BRL50 (about $10) represented roughly 74% of all betting transactions on various platforms. These small wagers accounted for approximately 23% of the total financial value, underscoring the fact that the market is significantly influenced by low-value bets.
This information stems from a quarterly report by Paag, a technology firm that focuses on data intelligence in regulated markets. The analysis covered transactions from its customer base between April and June 2026, offering insights into player behavior and the dynamics of the Brazilian betting market.
Specifically, transactions of up to R$20 (approximately $4) constituted about 45% of all transactions, even though they made up only 8% of the total financial value. In contrast, wagers ranging from R$20 to R$50 ($4 to $10) represented around 29% of transactions and 15% of the total value. These figures indicate that frequent betting is closely associated with lower-value deposits made regularly by users.
On the other hand, bets exceeding R$50 ($10) comprised approximately 77% of the total financial value for the quarter. For this segment, transactions between R$50 and R$1,000 ($10 to $200) contributed 57% to the overall total. Although bets over R$1,000 ($200) made up less than 1% of all transactions, they accounted for approximately 20% of the funds flowing through the platforms.
João Fraga, CEO of Paag, remarked, "Analyzing this data is crucial for understanding not only the sector's trajectory, but also where improvements can be made—regarding both actual operations and bettor safety and protection. Today, the data establishes market predictability from an operational standpoint, revealing clear patterns dominated by micro-transactions."
Betting activity peaks between the 8th and 20th of each month, with the busiest period occurring from the 16th to the 22nd. The 20th of the month saw the highest participation in both volume and value, while activity typically declines towards the end of the month.
Evening hours, specifically from 6:00pm to 11:00pm, account for 39% of all transactions. Individuals aged 25 to 49 represent about 80% of the total financial volume. São Paulo remains the leading market, dominating in both transaction volume and value. The South and Centre-West regions show the highest average transaction values, while the North and Northeast regions are crucial in expanding the user base.
