Spotlight Sports Group has appointed Adam Gill as its new chief technology officer, enhancing its senior leadership team. Gill began his role on June 2, after joining from the market research company Savanta. He will oversee technology and engineering within the Spotlight group, which includes software development and team management.

In addition to his primary responsibilities, Gill is tasked with leading Spotlight's AI adoption program, aimed at utilizing technology to attract new audiences. Based in Spotlight's London office, he intends to apply his experience from data-driven businesses to strengthen the offerings of the sports media outlet Racing Post.

Gill expressed enthusiasm for his new position, noting that Spotlight has created “something genuinely rare” with its trusted brands and engaged customer base. “As Racing Post enters its 40th year, there is a real opportunity to use technology to engage new audiences, deepen the value we deliver to operators, and make AI a practical capability across the business,” he remarked. “I can't wait to get started, work alongside the senior leadership team, and meet the team that has built this platform.”

Gill's arrival coincides with ongoing investments in Spotlight's product offerings. Chris Duncan, COO of Spotlight, emphasized Gill's significant experience in leading technology for data-focused companies. “He will play a key role as we invest in our consumer and retail products, enhance our subscriptions capability, and implement AI across the group,” Duncan explained.

Earlier in the year, Spotlight announced its Racing Innovation strategy for 2026, which includes the launch of two major products. In January, the company introduced the Smart View Tipping Feed and Racing Bet Builder for operators. Both tools are designed to provide operators with modern, algorithm-driven capabilities that improve customer engagement while streamlining the betting experience. At that time, Spotlight’s B2B managing director, Sam Houlding, stated that these innovations represented the next evolution of Spotlight's Smart View product, offering operators powerful new ways to interact with racing audiences and providing punters with trusted guidance based on decades of expertise.
