In the third quarter of 2021, Portugal saw its overall gross gaming revenue (GGR) decrease by 8.8%, totaling €114.1 million. Despite this decline, casino gaming revenue reached a new high of €64.8 million. Sports betting, however, experienced a significant downturn, with revenue dropping 27.0% to €49.3 million. For the first time this year, iGaming surpassed sports betting in popularity, constituting 57.0% of total GGR. Among sports, football remained the top choice for betting, making up an impressive 82.1% of sports betting turnover, followed by tennis at 13.3% and other sports at 4.6%.
