Esportes Gaming Brasil (EGB), the organization behind the Esportes da Sorte, Onabet, and Lottu brands, has earned a spot on the shortlist for the Global Gaming Awards Americas 2026, one of the most esteemed international accolades in the gaming and betting industry.
Nominated in the Responsible Business of the Year category, EGB's recognition stems from its Costura Cidadã (Citizen Sewing) initiative, launched during the Olinda Carnival. This program aims to generate income, foster skill development, and enhance the local creative economy.
Costura Cidadã is highlighted as the flagship of a broader range of social and environmental initiatives implemented by the company during the 2026 Carnival celebrations. More than 80 local women were trained in sewing and textile production, enabling them to create items for the brand's Carnival activities, including the official event banner. This initiative not only offered job opportunities but also contributed to the participants' financial independence.
Marcela Campos, Vice President of Esportes Gaming Brasil Group, expressed the significance of the project, stating, "Our focus is on being present within local communities, providing meaningful support and creating a lasting social and environmental legacy. Seeing the Costura Cidadã project recognised by an international award reinforces our commitment to combining investment in culture and entertainment with strengthening local economies and promoting social and environmental responsibility."
In addition to the vocational training initiatives, EGB provided support to the local economy during Carnival by equipping licensed street vendors with customized stalls, complete work kits, including branded shirts, cool boxes, umbrellas, and waist bags. The company also assisted over 40 historic Carnival groups and associations that parade openly, preserving the democratic and inclusive spirit of Olinda's largest cultural celebration.
The initiative expanded beyond Olinda. In Recife and Salvador, recyclable waste collectors received training on proper waste disposal and personal protective equipment, alongside hydration support and daily cash incentives throughout the festive period. In Caicó (Rio Grande do Norte), the company bolstered the local supply chain by commissioning local businesses to produce a significant share of the promotional caps and hats used in its Carnival activities.
On the environmental front, EGB implemented carbon offset initiatives to counter emissions from its operations, alongside responsible waste management and material reuse programs. The winners of the Global Gaming Awards Americas 2026 will be determined by a panel of senior gaming industry executives, with the evaluation process overseen by KPMG. The information supporting EGB's nomination was primarily drawn from media coverage of the Costura Cidadã initiative.
Iury Tavares, Press Manager at Esportes Gaming Brasil, remarked, "It's particularly meaningful that this nomination was built primarily on the strength of the media coverage surrounding the project. It demonstrates how effective communications can increase the visibility of social impact initiatives and help best practices reach audiences far beyond their local communities."
The winners will be announced on September 28 at The Venetian in Las Vegas during the Global Gaming Expo (G2E).
