BetMGM discovered an operational security flaw and has informed its customers that patron records were obtained unauthorisedly.
The operator said that personal information could vary from one customer to another. This included date of birth and hashed Social Security numbers. Account identifiers include player ID and screen names.
BetMGM thinks the incident occurred May 2022. The operator began an investigation after it was found on November 28. Security experts were also involved to determine the scope and nature of the matter.
According to the operator, there is no evidence of passwords being accessed or funds stolen from accounts. Its online operations are not in danger. The operator is working with law enforcement and is taking steps to improve security.
Adam Greenblatt is the CEO of BetMGM. He said: “We take this matter seriously and we are working fast to investigate it. BetMGM is committed to protecting the patrons’ and platform data. This is our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.
BetMGM advised that patrons be alert for suspicious activity and unsolicited communication regarding personal data. Affected users will also be eligible for free credit monitoring and identity recovery services for two years.
