Kansspelautoriteit has delayed the publication date of their revised Responsible Gaming Policy until June.

Due to the extended period of time the KSA allowed gaming stakeholders to provide feedback on the changes proposed, and the high number of comments received, the publication date for the revised policy rules has been moved from May 20, 2024 back to June 3, 2020.

On request, an extension of time was granted in December of last year. This gave stakeholders from the gaming industry extra time to submit feedback regarding the changes to the Responsible Gaming Policy, which included a stricter duty of care for online providers towards their customers.

The KSA will now publish the policy proposals in June. This is because it needs more time to carefully consider all the comments received.

The authority announced that once the policy rules were published on 3 June, the vast majority would be immediately in effect.

The KSA has made an exception for the provisions that will require online providers to make significant IT changes, since it is well aware of the need for more time. Soon, a date will be set for the implementation of these provisions.

The KSA announced a new agenda for supervision as part of the ‘Safe Gaming Mission’, along with public goals to enhance player protection.

The agenda, which was detailed in its 2020-2024 strategy, highlighted four possible areas for additional risks by 2024: the duty of care/addictions prevention; the fight against illegal online offers; the support of partners and the compliance of the data provision.
