Gauselmann Group announced the creation of a new division for online gambling and sports betting. Stefan Bruns was appointed to head the segment.
Bruns will join the Gauselmann management team and will assume his new position on April 1. He will be responsible for strengthening the online and land-based sports betting offerings.
He will also be responsible for the strategic expansion of virtual slot gaming and the promotion of internationalization of sports betting.
Bruns, who has been the senior managing director at Gauselmann’s Merkur Casino International subsidiary in February 2017, will assume this new role.
Since March 2014, he has been also a Gauselmann board coordinator. Prior to that, he was the managing director at Harting Automation Machinery Specialist.
Bruns saud: “I would like express my gratitude for the trust placed into me and look forward to the challenging tasks that lie ahead.” “The strategic expansion of online and land-based betting options will be the focus, as well as consolidating all online gaming activities worldwide.
“Our goal is create sustainable structures, products to increase our market share in online gambling and sports betting markets. We also want to position Merkur well for the long-term.”

Bruns believes that online gambling and sports betting are both promising markets where he can further expand and strengthen his business activities. I wish him luck and success in his important and highly responsible duties.”
Gauselmann, who this week was also named Irina Ru managing director of international at Merkur Casino, replaces Bruns.
Ruf has worked for the group for more than 15 years. He served in various roles at Merkur Casino, including head of business, head of operations, and head of business and development manager.
