OpticOdds, which provides sports data infrastructure for nearly 200 sportsbooks globally, has integrated its services with Perplexity, making it available to Pro and Max subscribers without requiring a separate subscription or setup. This is a significant milestone as it marks the first instance where institutional-grade market data is accessible directly to consumers via an AI product.
Pro and Max subscribers can now pose sports betting questions to Perplexity Computer, covering aspects such as line movements, player props, injury impacts, and market comparisons, all based on OpticOdds' real-time data feed. The same low-latency infrastructure used by sportsbooks, exchanges, and major prediction markets for trading and risk operations is now available to consumers through this advanced AI solution, capable of processing more than one million requests per second.
Matt Restivo, Senior Vice President of Sports Data Services at Gambling.com Group, noted, "For two decades, the commercial-grade data underneath real-time markets has lived inside professional trading desks. This is the first time that infrastructure reaches consumers directly. AI is becoming the distribution layer for the data that real markets run on. Sports is one of the first places that’s happening, and it won’t be the last."
Jeff Grimes, Head of Live Event Product at Perplexity, emphasized the importance of the integration: "OpticOdds has built the data layer that the most sophisticated sportsbooks rely on to price markets in real time, and that’s the same foundation we wanted behind every sports betting query inside Perplexity Computer. Accuracy is the foundation of Perplexity, and now any Pro or Max subscriber can ask about a player prop or track line movement across books in one conversation, with no separate OpticOdds subscription or setup required."
When users ask questions on sports betting, Perplexity Computer calls the OpticOdds API in real-time to deliver answers directly from the live feed. This integration simplifies the research process, which previously required multiple browser tabs and manual comparisons, into a single, natural-language conversation. Users can inquire about which NBA player props have shifted most in the past hour, how the spread has changed on a specific NFL game, or which sportsbooks are still offering a recommended wager on a particular market, receiving immediate, data-driven responses.
The Perplexity Computer integration marks OpticOdds' first foray into consumer-facing applications. In May 2026, the company became the first sports data organization to implement a Model Context Protocol (MCP) for AI agents, launching native support for Anthropic’s Claude. The current integration takes a more direct approach by embedding OpticOdds into the product, providing eligible subscribers with real-time sports market data instantly, without any extra configuration.
Restivo remarked, "Having seen platform shifts across operators—mobile, direct-to-consumer, live-video streaming, and sports betting itself—the pattern is always the same: the companies that own the data and infrastructure layer outlast those that try to predict what comes next. AI is the next platform, and we’re at the forefront building for it.
